An Edmonton-based program that helps introduce racialized high school students to the world of commercial real estate has expanded its reach to Calgary.

Andrel Wisdom, co-founder of the REET Institute, says his goal is to create more diversity in commercial real estate spaces, so he’s helping lead a program to connect students with mentors and education.

A social impact platform that provides young People of Colour an opportunity to learn the ins and outs of the commercial real estate industry is expanding to Calgary next month.

The Edmonton-based REET Institute is a non-profit that delivers a free, eight-week course to BIPOC (Black, Indigenous and People of Colour) high-school students. Through the course, students learn about financial literacy and are introduced to the commercial real estate sector.

Andrel Wisdom, a graduate of Seneca’s Real Property Administration (RPA) program, is paving the way for equity-deserving youth in Edmonton through a non-profit social impact enterprise called The REET Institute.

REET offers free programming designed to train, develop and mentor high school students to become the next generation of investors, owners and leaders in commercial real estate. It was co-founded in 2022 by Mr. Wisdom, his partner Kryzia Wisdom and another couple, Enyinnah and Michelle Okere.

“We share how we feel as we apply for jobs and navigate the labour market,” she says. “We all contribute our observations. For example, employers should understand that we’re not all millennials and have different expectations and goals.”

The organization is currently providing evaluation support for a unique eight-week program designed by the REET Institute in Edmonton to promote commercial real estate careers for Black, Indigenous, and youth of colour.
